water on asphalt.
a crow considers his image
in the rippled black glass.
the saintly downers have
never leaned out from windows so high.
they look down upon hysterical animals
and drawn reflections -
reflections of god or themselves
or each other or of nothing at all -
pinned with beaks and teeth
to the bottoms of transient lakes.

T i m e , c r u e l m i s t r e s s , shall this stand your test? Alack! Hark! Etc.! Etc.!
seriously, an instant fave. keep ‘em pinned, mr. sharpe, keep ‘em pinned.
P.S., those last two lines read like bits out of a Burroughs cut-up.

darren i sometimes forget to read your blog for a couple months (you dont post that often so it is not as long as it sounds) and then it is almost too much beautiful at once, dude.
you are really a great writer. you are a master of that specific kind of obtuse that i enjoy so heartily, but don’t think i’ve ever quite mastered myself.

you are all too kind !
i’m doing my best, i promise i will have a good new one up soon
i am wrestling with one of those ruts that comes with absolute stagnation and restlessness, probably the very same rut i have been trying to scuttle up the edges of for a good year now, that is a big part of the reason i haven’t been posting much
tyler and tim v, you both are damned fine poets yourselves and i miss reading your blogs all the time, what’s the deal
tim c, yr something else entirely and i want to steal your notebooks and put my name on them but everyone would know because i can’t do that shit.

wow, only just stumbled across the H2H over here.
Let it be known that if I could paint greys and whites as well as darren can write them, i’d be a hundred times better for it.
so i’ll just echo what amanda said, instead.
good on ya, mate.
