you have seen my verities
   clear as cans stacked
in a tapedup window through which
a crow once barreled as a
               messenger brick
for the acrid train director (now a
			       crooked grocer
,his secret thumbs inkred as his
			       	     mason's blood)
     who set his coals
          offside to smolder in the
                       grass,nest the terns
     said his engine a rootcellar
                       or migratory dininghall
 thin as young
   ice yellow in the buzzing
  refrigerator

grenada recieves

how trust it to you to
be stood so straight on a beach
cold and bonebraced
soles to the sand and
shouts to the tide
tending twine that tethers your time
so stiffly to the shore while the sea
sets your stars in salt
a bank bested a gesture of the ocean
a warble shifted the wind
a nail driven and a needle to the leaves
left you alone at the line to draw in
your dripping lift and wrung you dry
that it might save you a shiver

thin ships

frozen like sole-leather they
pushed uphill and were upset by friction
against reason and over themselves
whose fluid minds counted beyond sight
fought battles in aisles
staved defeat on skirted knees
with no instrument of dedication
whose conquests shivered as dogs
and bruised as brawling bears
shed as boards in the cold
and set about to split cleanly,
quickly as bolts cleave decks of
thin ships steered port to palm

old problems consider geology

you blood brothers
could minds at your long
uncircled attention
stamp like vesuvius

no flood could upset you
your sleeping minds and
fingers busy tracing
chelsea smiles onto themselves

no black lip or landslide
could have off with your groundleaning days
of crosslegged parkbench panoply
for just a dull second

but strata saved your pull
that jarred terrain of
scraping sets and drawn faces
too stiff now to shape

goldcapped teeth at attention
of obituary borders
those columns tremor threw
to your coattails
